    time I started out doing recruiting then began setting up training across my shift So while handing payroll issues and covering benefit meetings I was also getting to help shape our environment It s been an incredible experience On her approach to work My previous job became very routine so when I came here I was thrown into this new and exciting environment It s helped me focus and stay driven Also with everyone dedicated to quality customer service it motivates you in many ways On the most rewarding part of her job Watching my team members grow and be successful especially those with disabilities Sometimes on their first day you think Will this person make it But to see them come out of their shell and become an all around productive team member is amazing On innovation We have technology and equipment that helps accommodate our team members with disabilities What s even more amazing though is the fact that these alterations weren t expensive but their effectiveness was quite measurable On her interests outside of work I love to ski I actually do what is called mono skiing Although it s a little difficult here in South Carolina I like to do it as much as possible I also travel a few times a year and love to spend time outdoors with my friends and family There are so many mentors and so many avenues for you to learn and move about in the company Syreeta Senior give to candidates Have good communication problem solving and multi tasking skills Talk to as many real estate managers in the company as you can It really is fascinating to see how they manage you have any questions just ask There is so much knowledge and so many different people to ask and they are always willing to help I think that is one way that I have changed my style reaching out to another area In Orlando I showed my parents a store that was once a Shell gas station and here I was responsible for it now being a Walgreens On innovation On the real estate side we started out with the GIS program which was fairly new That evolved to the current real estate packet where we can pull together those GIS maps and demographics and not have to identify each item We also have a competitive database now On her interests outside of work Reading Traveling is important Spending time with my family I travel a lot for work so whenever I get to see them it is a really great time I and knew they were hiring Technicians From what I had seen just from the interview the computer system was amazing I am a very technical person and after interviewing with a couple of different pharmacies I saw that Walgreens had a more advanced prescription processing program that seemed very fun to use On his recent work experiences I am classified as more of a Store Manager but because we are a pharmacy only I work more with providers selling our pharmacy to them I work with them to meet their requests for patient care we strive to make it easier to get their patients in and out not only out of the hospital but out of outpatient clinics I find out what the providers needs are and then I work alongside my pharmacy manager to implement some of the programs that we offer to clinics and to patients On the advice he d give to candidates I think you really have to be self motivated to move into the onsite stores A lot of the onsite stores are running as their own entities We are covered under district supervision but we are given the task of promoting our business on our own and we are held to strict increases in sales so we have to think outside the box On innovation If I can say this without sounding biased my store in particular has been very innovative We bring together the homecare piece the pharmacy piece and specialty pharmacy and make it all work together We are able now to access prescriptions on Medmarc our specialty pharmacy in Pittsburgh and we have access to our fertility pharmacy s records through one computer system that was put in place here in our store On why he works here The advancement opportunities have been amazing I have had nothing but the support of my superiors when it comes to making things happen They are always willing to help me regardless of handicap disability race culture sex etc They just opened the distribution center for people with disabilities which is huge And they are bringing a lot of that into the stores On they were always asking about what I was learning and wanted to talk about it On impacting Walgreens mission Pharmacists are going to have a huge role in providing basic preventative measures We ll be doing vaccinations And we ll have diabetes stores and educators tips to diabetics how to eat how to use machines At my store we are starting with blood pressure So we have more time in the stores to counsel and actually help people On innovation There s been bar code verification as a safety feature the scanning of prescriptions remote verification where if I am getting busy a pharmacist down the street can check the prescription and help me out There have been a lot of changes that have made the job easier and freed up time On her interests outside of work I like to shop I work out and hang Walgreens I didn t choose Walgreens Walgreens chose me My best friend had just gotten an internship for the summer but was already working at Walgreens as a Pharmacy Intern Seeing as that Walgreens wouldn t let him work both internships he asked me to take his place as a pharmacy intern for the summer I started in 1982 and never left On the advice he d give to candidates Most of us who go into pharmacy think that this is our only path for career satisfaction but long term care or home infusion can also be very rewarding Not only do you become a healthcare provider but you also are Even though the end of the story is not always the best outcome it is really rewarding that we give back to the community I had the pleasure of knowing a 9 year old little girl for 2 years Well she important part of the job On the most rewarding aspects of Walgreens You re making a difference Sometimes you don t see that from a retail point of view because you re so busy counting pouring and we typed every prescription on a manual typewriter and then electric typewriters became cutting edge Now we re using the Intercom Plus Walgreens isn t just happy with providing a service they re They do a fantastic job of hiring good management and everyone here is friendly and helpful I ve always had managers who were as flexible as possible and good tech help everywhere I went It s really a family environment where we are encouraged to think differently Walgreens even has an online suggestion box where you can submit new and unique ideas via email On impacting Walgreens mission It s all about the customer We re able to have that one on one time with each patient We even have the time to walk out from behind the counter to help them find the right product On innovation We definitely have the best computer systems available with great references online Walgreens focus on improving technology has made a huge impact here We also started using the POWER Program this frees up the pharmacist to focus more on patient care We re now able to spend more time talking to the patient and even less being stuck behind the counter doing the billing and making calls On why she works
