  • Congress Needs To Reauthorize The Ex-Im Bank
    S economy The most recent charter of the Bank expired on September 30 2014 but was extended by Congress until June 30 2015 That extension has now expired and the Bank can no longer process applications or engage in new business The Water and Wastewater Equipment Manufacturers Association WWEMA has been a strong supporter of the Ex Im Bank We joined with 865 organizations across the country last year to send a strong message to Congress that the Ex Im bank should be reauthorized We are once again joining forces with the U S Chamber of Commerce and over 1 000 businesses and organizations to reach out to Congress to ask them to reauthorize the Ex Im Bank Here are a few statistics found on the Bank s website and that of the U S Chamber of Commerce a strong supporter of the Ex Im Bank Over the past two decades the Bank has generated nearly 7 billion more than the cost of its operations This excess is returned to the U S Treasury to help reduce the federal deficit Over the past eight years the Bank has provided financing or guarantees for more than 200 billion in U S exports supporting more than 1 5 million American jobs at 7 300 companies In FY 2014 nearly 90 percent of Ex Im Bank transactions more than 3 340 directly supported American small businesses In FY 2014 Ex Im Bank financing supported 27 5 billion worth of U S exports supporting more than 164 000 American jobs 10 7 billion of that total represents exports from U S small businesses making small business exports the top category for Ex Im Bank supported exports last year The Bank has maintained a historically low default rate of 0 175 percent as of the

    Rosemount Analytical Degremont Technologies Brentwood Industries View All Providers News Feature January 26 2016 Heroic Wastewater Workers To The Rescue During Flood By Sara Jerome sarmje Wastewater workers in Illinois got heroic recently during a flood In late December and early January Illinois was hit by massive floods Dozens of roads across the Heartland are under water after heavy rain and rising river levels KFVS reported at the time Flooding along the Big Muddy River blocked the road to the sewage treatment plant in Murphysboro IL It was not possible to walk or drive to the plant WPSD reported Murphysboro Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Brian Manwaring described the dilemma At some point we would lose sewer service for the town of Murphysboro if we couldn t get employees in and out to maintain the facility Wastewater Operator John Hunziker and a crew of his colleagues did not give up Instead they got creative finding another way in The only way in was by boat Hunziker said per the report With nearly three feet of water in the road four plant workers boated in and out of work to ensure the plant would remain functional The plant s got to be run Somebody s got to be here Hunziker said We were able to stay in the back channels We didn t have to get out on the main river so that doesn t make it too bad on us There s no current in there right now Manwaring said the town has applied for grants to improve the path to the plant or move the plant entirely but they have all been turned down The Illinois Department of Public Health urges caution around flood water Flood waters and sewer overflows can contain bacteria fecal material viruses and other organisms

  • Water Recycling Employee Dies In Plant Explosion
    month The body of Julian Gallardo 23 of Midland was found in a burned out structure at a Water Rescue Services site Fort Worth based Water Rescue Services provides water treatment technology to the energy industry KWTX reported Clients of Water Rescue Services include oil and gas operators The company provides water recycling services Gallardo was mixing chemicals at the facility when the explosion occurred Upstream reported citing Midland s News Channel 10 Sheriff Gary Painter made a statement per News West 9 Gallardo s family has been notified he said Preliminary investigation revealed chemicals were being mixed together and a spark ignited the chemicals causing the explosion The explosion occurred about 10 30 a m on January 4 at the business and destroyed a building two RVs and three other vehicles the Midland Reporter Telegram reported The county weighed in as follows Upon arrival a structure was completely engulfed in flames Once the flame was extinguished personnel discovered the body of company employee Julian Gallardo within the structure per the Telegram Texas Commission on Environmental Quality TCEQ spokesperson Andrea Morrow said her agency is investigating the events Midland County officials reported no evidence of a spill to the environment she said per News West 9 An RV park near the explosion was evacuated One evacuee said per News West 9 I was terrified I looked out my back door and there was smoke going everywhere I just started hollering at my daughter and granddaughter Get the baby get in the car and let s get out of here Water and wastewater operators are sometimes at risk on the job but perhaps less so than they have been historically according to a Bloomberg report Fatal workplace accidents have declined in the past decade said Kristin Dziczek director of the Industry
