night or a shadowed face seems hidden mysterious and perhaps threatening Qualities we associate with potential and with danger and death Seeing Red The meaning of colors is largely symbolic and these associations are not conscious They are part of the cultural mind So even if you ve never thought about why red means danger you still respond to a flash of red light as a warning Even if you hate the color pink being in a room painted a quiet pink will calm your physical body Do Colors Really Have Powers Every color affects human beings in a particular way and that s how we derive the meaning of colors But the Power of color comes from its physical properties and the underlying essence of those properties Color doesn t really exist It is merely how our eyes and brains interpret certain frequencies of light These light frequencies though do exist as much as anything can in this illusory world The Color Vibrations Every color has a vibration and frequency which has its own energy independent of human perception For example the frequency of red is much slower than that of violet and its wavelength is much longer Relatively speaking of course So the metaphysical meaning of the color red is a denser level of material existence and the metaphysical meaning of the color violet is of more refined existence This may seem like cultural perceptions but it goes beyond that The smaller the wavelength the higher the order of information that can be held within it Therefore red holds an energy that is on a denser or lower order corresponding with the root chakra And violet holds an energy that is more refined or elevated corresponding with the crown chakra How Does The Power Of Colors Apply To Wicca The power of the colors is crucial to Wiccan practice because of those symbolic and physical properties Witches use color consciously for both its symbolic and physical qualities Color serves to draw certain energies to you and to your altar and spells For instance each of the directions is associated with a color and ritual space often puts appropriately colored items in that quadrant to hold the direction And in spell casting and altar decorating colors are chosen for their properties so that the power of all the colors only enhance the spell For example a money spell done in pink lacks a focused energy Pink has no relationship with finances But gold silver and green bring additional oomph to any spell for abundance So the meaning of each of the colors is useful information in witch craft If you are interested in accessing your full magickal potential it will serve you well to learn the characteristic and power of each of the basic colors These are given in the next article With Bright Blessings Next Article Meanings of the Colors If You Liked The Power of Colors You May Also Enjoy These Related Articles New material is always

to Wicca Gods Symbols Index Holly Holly is the Winter God symbol the Green Man in his winter guise He is the complement of the Oak King the Summer God As an evergreen Holly is revered as a symbol of eternal life The red berries reminiscent of Persephone s pomegranates reinforces this meaning The Holly King represents life that lives on beneath the surface On the surface the God is dead the Green has given way to white snows But this death is an illusion The God this symbol promises will rise again Holly is the promise of that See also Oak Back to Wicca Gods Symbols Index Horn Horns are an ancient God symbol Horns have been associated with worship of the Divine perhaps since the dawn of human consciousness Stone Age art everywhere depicts men wearing horns and antlers One obvious reason for this correlation is the visual similarity between horns and the Crescent Moon The first is a symbol of male virility and spiritual power and the second is a symbol of the creative power of the female Thus the curved horn such as a bull s horn can simultaneously signify the God and the Goddess specifically the God as lover and child of the Goddess This explains the Bull s ancient power as a spiritual animal See also Stag Antler and Goddess Symbols Crescent Moon Back to Wicca Gods Symbols Index Maypole The Maypole is an ancient phallic God symbol representing the generative power of the God The Maypole would be set into the Earth at Beltane May Eve This symbolically fertilized the Earth Mother to produce new life in the Spring Then women and men danced around this sacred union women widdershins and men deosil As the lines wove in and out ribbons tied to the head of the Maypole interlaced into a colourful sheath along the Maypole Back to Wicca Gods Symbols Index Oak Oak is associated with Wicca because it was particularly sacred to the Druids from which Wicca was said to have evolved The word Druid may in fact come from the same root as the word for Oak It is from oak trees that sacred mistletoe was gathered Oak is associated with the masculine divinity The Oak King is the Green Man in his summer aspect growing powerful virile Green Man Pendants at Spiral org uk See also Holly Back to Wicca Gods Symbols Index Stag Buck The stag is a symbol of the Horned God This is the God of joyful virility radiating Power and life force It is He who gives Himself away so that others can live The stag is not only a Wicca symbol but also widely used in Neopaganism See also Sun Antlered Stag Antlers Horns Back to Wicca Gods Symbols Index Sun European tradition has the Sun as male so any image of the Sun is in Wicca a God symbol The God in Wicca symbolism is connected with the cycles of the Sun the

words The Actions Now go back through your dream and underline all the action words For example Running Looking Hearing Picking up Sitting down etc List them like you did the objects and then make note of any associations In the above dream one action was getting out of the car This action can be broken down into two actions with somewhat different meanings Getting out Leaving abandoning hightailing it moving on Getting out of the car Standing up taking action leaving behind my support to go ahead on my own The Settings Use the same process with the settings in your dreams The settings are the landscapes in your mind You may not have thought of the surroundings when you first wrote the dream down so you can go back now and ask yourself Where was this happening In our sample dream I was driving across ice like a frozen lake or maybe ocean The office was on the ice as well Now ask yourself What does this location mean to me In our sample dream you might come up with associations like On the ice of a frozen ocean Standing on water walking on water walking on thin ice frozen emotions deep unknowns perhaps lurking underneath cold chilled like death quiet passive death freezing and drowning are You can see in this example how one association sparked another standing on water made me think of walking on water Go with these insights They can be invaluable to the dream analysis process The People When you look at the people in your dreams you really begin to see some of the levels of meaning that your dreams offer you Start with the most basic If you dreamt of your brother Bob write down what qualities you associate with Bob Bob Pushy obnoxious selfish self absorbed caring tries to help people in a heavy handed way good with tools mechanic eldest This will help you identify the characteristics that are being pointed out in your dream Are You Dreaming Of Others Or Yourself We commonly feel that when we dream of another person the dream is actually about them This may or may not be true If you dreamt of Bob getting a divorce maybe it s signaling a problem in his marriage But even if this is so the dream is saying more than just that You may have heard it said that everyone in your dreams is you And it s true There is an aspect of you that is like Bob If this weren t so he wouldn t show up in your dreams We don t often enjoy seeing ourselves in a negative way It s easier for our subconscious to say that we have some Bob like characteristics by showing us an image of Bob than to say to ourselves that we re being selfish or whatever This also happens in a positive way If you dream of Mother Teresa there is a part of

  • Dream Analysis part 2: Dream Interpretation * Wicca-Spirituality.com
thing left to do is to write down in your journal what you think the dream is meaning Again it s tempting to skip this step You ll think that you ll remember it and you rationalize that it s not important I speak from long experience when I say that over time you will forget Writing it down helps to solidify it in your memory It also solidifies your understanding when you have to put it into words you will get much more clear on it Plus you can look back on it in future years From that perspective you won t understand the dream in the same way It can be illuminating to see how your perspective has changed And since dreams don t take place in a vacuum but in an ongoing stream of Divine communication it s incredibly helpful to be able to quickly look back over a series of dreams You can get a feel for the process this way Follow Through The last step in dream analysis is following it through What It isn t enough that you dissected your dream into atom sized bits and put it back together again Sorry no What good is getting a hand delivered invitation from the Divine if you re not going to go to the party You ve got to take action on what your dream analysis reveals There are two steps to that Application All of this fine work you ve done hours spent writing and exploring your dream is absolutely meaningless unless you apply it to your life The test of any spiritual practice is how it changes you If you re not going to use the information gleaned from your dreams to change your life than you re wasting your time It might be intellectually interesting but it won t be meaningful In fact it will simply be one more distraction from actually pursuing a spiritual life So how can you apply what you ve learnt Act on it When you re dreams point out a direction you need to go take it When they show you a character flaw heal it If you can t apply it then at least apply awareness of it You might not be ready to quit your job or whatever but keep aware of what your dreams tell you about it And ask them to help you be ready for whatever action is needful Gratitude Say thank you for your dreams and the guidance they give you This increases the communication and the clarity of your dreams And while saying and especially feeling gratitude is important talk is cheap If you really appreciate the messages act on them If you re serious about dreamwork then you must act on the messages and you must be grateful for them If you do this follow through you ll find the practice of dream analysis will be much more rewarding and powerful than you d dared dream Summary of Dreamwork

  • Cannot Visualize? * Wicca-Spirituality.com
Visualization to experience for yourself that you already can and do That means that even without a strong visual sense you can learn to do this There are practical exercises that can teach you how to visualize effectively A Multi Sensory Experience So why do so many people think it s impossible The difficulty arises due to a limitation of the English language When you say you cannot visualize you are really saying you can t see pictures in your head on command But there are a lot more senses than you can use other than vision In fact in India where they have refined the technique to nearly a scientific art they are absolutely clear that all your senses are to be involved When the yogis say to envision something the last thing they mean is to see merely with the mind s eye It is meant to include the mind s touch mind s ear mind s smell and mind s taste too And perhaps even most important it is meant to involve your somatic sensation as well In other words when you can experience something with all your inner senses and confirm this with your inner experience of yes this is right this is true that is when you gain a peerless spiritual Power Tool But in English we don t yet have a word for this kind of experience Our poor language has few words for experiences outside the left brain model So we re stuck with a very misleading term But what this Spiritual Power Tool is really about is To make a situation real to yourself within your mind You can t do that with vision alone In fact vision may be one of the less important senses to use Vision is the most left brain of the senses It keeps things away at a distance Sound smell taste and especially sensation these are the senses that make things seem real Think about how you feel when you watch tv You know it s not real because all that is being stimulated is sight Your other senses tell you something else entirely And at least one of these other senses will be what you are already using if vision isn t your strongest sense Your Primary Senses Everyone has senses that are more primary to her than others If you think you cannot visualize it s because you re using a different cognitive sense as your primary sensory tool You may primarily use hearing smell or taste You may use one of the four body senses touch tactile inner sensation somatic movement kinesthetic or emotion the most magickally potent sense of all Many witches find physical sensation a strong sense But whichever sense is primary for you start with that Recognise that you do visualize Then it is only a matter of practice to develop even greater skill Once you honour where you are now you can begin learning how to do increase your

beyond the small self that you normally think of as you Daily concerns Thoughts Hopes fears Even identity Why would you want to do this Because it s the best way we have to consciously connect with our real Self and the Divine Meditating Witches Probably all Witches meditate more or less To some degree we use these skills when we use a grounding technique do creative visualization take a trance journey focus on a spell and create ritual For now though let s consider pure meditation the emptying of self in the experience of the Divine How It Benefits You As A Witch Many Witches have a meditation practice as well as Wiccan practices Meditation is an excellent way to develop skills used in Wicca particularly for Magick This practice enhances a Witch s ability to Shifting consciousness at will Entering the realm of the Divine Connecting with deeper reality Letting go of expectation of results Allowing life to flow naturally Focused concentration upon an intention Increased awareness of subtle levels of existence These benefits naturally make meditating very alluring to Witches who seek to deepen their spiritual practice Wicca Meditation But does Wicca have meditation as a spiritual practice There has been no direct lineage of meditating in Wicca not in the way we usually use the word The closest it seems to come is in rituals of Drawing Down the Moon Invoking the God dess and tonal chanting And of course the many visualizations and trance journeys have a lot of similarities to this practice Does this mean that Wicca has no interest in meditation That depends In the traditional that is Gardnerian descended Wicca religion no Traditional Wicca is very clear about what is and what isn t a Wiccan practice And any comparable spiritual practices of the mind if they ever existed among the pre Christian nature worshippers have been lost in the mists of time My belief is that meditating is common to every spiritual path although not every religion This is one of the differences between religion and spirituality Not to mention the seemingly natural human propensity to enter meditative states even while doing repetitive tasks So I feel certain that ancient Witches must have had some form of meditative practice But regardless of such speculation in Wicca Spirituality meditation absolutely has a place Wicca as a spiritual practice holds personal and spiritual evolution as the essential objective And there is no more precisely designed practice for the evolution of spirituality than meditating There are others ways to access the Divine Within but none of the others have the same depth or efficiency If you want to reach your full spiritual potential meditating is the golden road And it has a lot to offer your Wicca practice Which Meditation For Witches Okay you may have realized by now that this is something worth exploring But where do you go from here There are so many varieties to choose from Many of them verge
