that weren t out there They ve been trying to do it their own way since before the Kickstarter days and have had a pretty solid run of it Their first camera was a S16 film camera called the A Cam SP 16 came in 2003 and they recently made the transition to raw digital cameras with their very unique A Cam dII in 2010 Hopefully they will be able to get production ramped back up soon They recently dropped the price on their A Cam dII earlier this year A S16 uncompressed raw camera that shoots 1080p up to 37fps the future support of this camera seems uncertain but I think with how volatile the industry is and how quickly things can change the same can be true about every camera out there I will update this post when I hear more news Jared Abrams Visit My Website View My Other Posts Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood California After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography He just happened to be in the right place at the right time Related Posts Why I Shoot By Chris Collins Posted on 24 April 2011 Used Gear Sale To Support Our Kickstarter Project Posted on 24 October 2011 The New Digital Cinema Race Posted on 10 July 2013 AVID Media Composer 6 Preview Part 1 Posted on 03 November 2011 The importance of being agnostic with cameras Posted on 27 January 2012 Metabones Speed Booster Adapter Quick Take Parody Video Posted on 06 February 2013 MWDirector It s a S16 camera natums Corrected Good catch Sponsors Projects New Product Recent Posts Four Foot Soft

  • Why I’m not an Early Adopter – Adobe CC « Wide Open Camera
well informed then to chase the latest craze That week of waiting isn t going to ruin my career but having a project file get corrupted or the filter on my sequence changing effect could cause delays that reflect poorly on me My client isn t going to praise my use of the latest tools they are just going to be mad if anything goes wrong And since I know that one such issue does exist I don t want to be the one to find other issues while under a deadline Better safe then sorry is a good policy when upgrading software on any device you use for your livelihood That being said Adobe has taken several measures to make upgrading as painless and safe as possible You can actually run CS6 and CC side by side on your system without issue according to Adobe and installing CC won t uninstall CS6 if you already have it So feel free to download and explore but I highly recommend finishing out all your current work on CS6 before moving over to CC for new projects Some CC apps actually include exporting back CS6 so you can feel a little safer venturing into unknown territory if you can t resist Another perk is all previous versions of CC and CS6 are archived by Adobe and available for download for all CC subscribers so if at some point an update breaks your plugin or something and you need to use it the previous versions of the app are available to you quickly and easily I look forward to diving into CC and I ll probably do some tests of new features later this week but I don t plan on it being my primary set up right away Jared Abrams Visit My

  • Kuler: Real World Color Sampling from Adobe « Wide Open Camera
s camera at in real time I quickly vined the app in action so you can see how it works You can freeze images and manually choose spots to pull color from also It s interesting to see the themes it puts together on its own and how well the colors compliment each other by whatever methods they use Here is one of the themes I made from that setting I shot It requires an adobe ID to send the themes via email or tweet minor annoyance but that allows you to save all your themes to the cloud and access them from anywhere you log in It s a cool app and kind of lets you think creatively on the go Check it out in the app store Jared Abrams Visit My Website View My Other Posts Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood California After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography He just happened to be in the right place at the right time Related Posts What I like about Red Epic and what I don t like about Red Posted on 17 July 2012 Tony Reale From Next Wave DV Interview At Cine Gear Expo 2011 Posted on 07 July 2011 Determination Posted on 01 June 2011 SmallHD Announces New 702 Bright Monitor 1499 US Posted on 09 September 2015 NAB 2012 Hoodman USA Posted on 20 April 2012 Carl Zeiss Lenses Introduces A New Family Of Lenses Called Touit Posted on 30 April 2013 Sponsors Projects New Product Recent Posts Four Foot Soft Light Wand By Michael Sutton DIY Under 70 Red Announces Red Raven A Sub 6K Camera

  • The New Pro can be a Mac Cube « Wide Open Camera
on this base system which will become essentially the powerhouse of a more modular style of computing Give it the same size footprint as the Mac Mini but in Cube shape and then you pop a Sonnet Echo 15 or similar future competitors and you have all the IO options you need again This creates something you could only do before at the cost of performance external peripherals are no longer a compromise but a new way to work Dont put everything in one box or tower Build the tower as central hub for power and features are all plug n play from there Added bonus if you also work off your MacBook Pro it just got a whole lot more useful as you can take your necessary thunderbolt peripherals with you and work from anywhere on a surprisingly full featured edit system with a smaller footprint Anyway I this will still leave some people high and dry for what they want I didn t say it was perfect but based on their transition from pro to a more prosumer this would certainly leave a product that gives the desired bare essentials over the iMac You can upgrade or swap out hard drives or memory since sometimes you know they die and that shouldn t mean you lose your computer for a week while you have to send it in to Apple for them to replace or fix it It s a semi happy compromise makes it more friendly on price points for prosumers which even pros will appreciate to some extent as long as they can achieve all they need with thunderbolt What else would you like to see if Apple has to downsize the Mac Pro Is it even worth keeping around at my proposed Cube form or

  • How I Share and Send Files With Clients – A New Edition to My Arsenal – ‘MinBox’ « Wide Open Camera
vimeo link only viewable on my website and make the page it s a random or semi random set of 5 9 characters for security and voila I have a private branded page that I can link my client directly to because natums com 3D4k422 and looks way sweeter then a vimeo or dropbox link Setting this step up required a lot of leg work initially but now that I have the page designed it s a copy and paste process to make a new page I don t do automated emails of the links because I usually am MinBox There are still many other occasions when I need to share files though MinBox is a new app that helps fill another issue I have Sometimes a client calls and asks for a file not on my dropbox I usually throw it in there and either wait and share the direct link or link to the enclosing folder and tell them an ETA for when the file should be uploaded That works it s not very elegant though and requires you to wait for it to finish uploading or your client to keep clicking your link until it s finally online or forgetting to check back till hours later and blaming you for the delay Minbox is purpose built as a fast and easy solution for quickly emailing a file you don t want to sit around waiting to upload There kickass and fast demo video above shows the basic idea drag the file to the icon pick your recipient leave a message and press send You are done Now they make it sound like the file is uploaded faster than competitors and unless your internet upload speed exceeds that of competitor s download speeds that is simply not true In my case my ISP is always my bottleneck But the nice trick is you press send it keeps uploading in the background and then sends the link once it s done uploading They get it as soon as possible and you don t have to wait around to press send A win win in that regard So far it s worked flawlessly I actually like it s web player s performance I ve always found Dropbox to be very poor minbox is better but I still recommend Vimeo or Youtube for online streaming viewing and you can send multiple files at once and it offers them to the recipient as a zip or individually a nice feature My big concerns Interrupted uploads I love that my ISP can t mess up my dropbox uploads even when it s massive files MinBox boasts unlimited storage but if your ISP drops out midway through the upload it s all for nothing The UI is very simple but not very intuitive when you get beyond the drag and send stage It gives you a progress meter right in the menu bar icon but it s difficult to see progress on large uploads
