Comments Off on Interview with Shelby Mason founder of Leg Up and creator of Bootights Posted in Women in Business Patricia Beckman founder of Cybertary and its franchise Posted on August 8 2011 by Elisa Balabram Dear Patricia Could you share your background prior to starting your business Prior to starting Cybertary I spent more than 20 years in finance management working in senior level positions for companies such as Nolte Associates and Hewlett Packard HP I decided to leave my position when I realized that my Patricia Beckman high demand job had made me out of touch with my family When did you establish Cybertary I launched Cybertary on November 1 2005 with a business plan that was based on a client base of 5 7 active recurring clients that I would manage myself Surprisingly I gained five clients my first week in business and then continued to gain 5 7 new client leads each following week I found that I needed to add at least one team member per month to keep up with the client demand I discovered that due to the branding website and marketing materials I had created people presumed Cybertary was a franchise and that we were a large national company They started to ask me where I heard about the company and how they could launch their own Cybertary business We began receiving huge volumes of resumes every week from moms who wanted to join the team and from clients who wanted our services but I was at maximum capacity and could not manage the workload for that many clients and team members independently After a while I took the hint and decided to turn the Cybertary business model into a franchise opportunity This way we could continue to meet the growing client demand and provide more opportunities for moms disabled and caregivers to work from home at a professional wage Read more Comments Off on Patricia Beckman founder of Cybertary and its franchise Posted in Women in Business Interview with Pattie Simone founder of WomenCentric Posted on July prior to becoming an entrepreneur Lila Allocca I have always wanted to work for myself Before becoming an entrepreneur I worked for Merrill Lynch as a Legal Assistant for 10 Years I just never liked sitting behind a desk It left me feeling uninspired Also due to the fact that I do not have a College Education moving up the corporate ladder would have taken much longer than I was willing to wait for How was it helpful to you as you began your entrepreneurial journey Actually being in the corporate environment pushed me to want to break free on my own so I guess just being there was helpful What led you to purchase BritchinPost com That s my favorite question Probably a common answer in my field as well The birth of my daughter Olivia inspired me I was shopping for her at one of my favorite online boutiques Britchinpost com and had to call the owner to ask a question In the midst of conversation she told me she was going to be selling her online store The Lila Lightbulb went on grow This inspires passion in my life My triple Leo step daughter Ava Beane also inspires me She teaches me every day of how to stay present be ready to play and how to let go of agenda and control Artistically collaborating with other artists musicians and dancers also inspire me as well as spending time in Nature really helps me get my creative juices flowing WBiz How long did it take for you to create the CD TL Ha that is funny only because I am still in the process of completing my album And it s taken me about 3 years Fire Ghost and Thieves is my first and when I started I didn t realize how long this experience would take and I thought it was going to be easy I also had no idea that making an album was going to be an expensive investment But well worth it as I near the end this album has been a journey of surrender and humility leaving me more empowered and experienced individual Personally the music is about taking risks and creating beauty all at the same time I blend a bunch of my favorite styles of music like acoustic ambient and indigenous sound with edgy and soulful undertones of blues and indie rock to tell real stories of loss empowerment courage and pain One of the most time consuming aspects of making this album comes in the mixing This is the most delicate part of creating the album I ve had to re mix some of the tracks numerous of times and then listen on different sound systems to make sure the songs were represented at its highest potential But this can be a tricky dance because there were times my perfectionist had me twirling in circles So I ve had to ask surrender to step in I am happy to say that I have finally reached the moment of now deciding the order of the tracks and will be moving onto mastering the tunes As Spring approaches perhaps this is the perfect moment to release my master piece Wbiz Thank you for sharing your journey and challenges Please make sure to let us know when the CD is available How was your experience raising the funds needed through KickStarter com TL It was an incredible test of faith and took consistent action to make it happen First I researched other projects that did not make their Kickstarter goal I discovered that it was not enough to be talented or have a great idea that was going to get others to financially support my project It was going to take something more I decided that I was going to commit myself to making it happen no matter what and I then saw myself winning and manifesting the funds before I even began The key behind me creating success for myself really was in how much I engaged my audience So every week I posted updates on Facebook
