  • What's The Difference Between Lucid Dreaming and Day Dreaming?
are harder to measure Because they are both internally generated reporting of these states is a subjective task I ll give you my personal view of the differences which I think most lucid dreamers would roughly agree with While day dreams are fun research shows we day dream for 70 120 minutes every day they are really just waking thoughts We slip in and out of day dreams visualizing our hopes and fears reflecting on the past future and fantasy We maintain awareness of the outside world to some degree and can stop and re start the fantasy if our attention is directed back to reality Day dreams are fairly intangible so when you day dream of running across the sand the sensation is not really there it s only imagined In lucid dreams the fact that you are asleep and switched off from the real world means you are fully immersed in the dream world literally seeing hearing and touching your surroundings in a way that can vividly mimic reality Your brain perceives the lucid dream world as vividly as if it were waking reality and you are fully tuned in to the experience The dreamscape is largely self generating even when you consciously manipulate parts of it and allows for illogical and unexpected creations to appear from the unconscious mind Return to Lucid Dreaming FAQ Share email facebook tumblr twitter reddit google pinterest Your Gateway to Lucid Dreams Some people dream to sleep Others sleep to dream Start now About the author Rebecca Turner is the creator of World of Lucid Dreaming where she offers valuable first hand insights Learn more about Rebecca Take her home study program Connect with her on Facebook Twitter and the lucid dream forum Latest Extraordinary fantasy art by Jeremiah Morelli Jeremiah Morelli is a whimsical fantasy artist and visual storyteller He places conceptual fairytale creatures in vivid dreamscapes to capture the imagination He s also a school teacher and amazingly finds the time and motivation to create this huge gallery of artwork Such light and dark fairytale paintings make beautiful places to visit in your lucid dreams Latest 12 awesome Inception style dreamscapes Inspired and named for the notion of Flatland artist and photographer Aydin Buyuktas has created a series of works where a space of surprises creates a space that creates surprises Based on photos of Istanbul Buyuktas explains We live in places that most of the times don t draw our attention places that transform our memories places that the artist gives another dimension where the perceptions that generally crosses our minds will be demolished and new ones will arise These works aim to leave the viewer alone with a surprising visuality ironic as well as a multidimensional romantic point of view Latest 10 essential oils to boost lucid dreaming One summer the 19th century lucid dream researcher Marquis d Hervey de Saint Deny took a bottle of an unfamiliar scent on his travels to France He whiffed his scent

  • What Type of Dreams are These?
ve also had larger non lucid dream movements affecting my physical body When I was a teenager I worked on a supermarket checkout Whenever I was stressed I had these endless semi conscious nightmares where I did the repetitive movement of scanning endless items of food on the checkout Eventually I woke up to see I had been doing the same movements in my bed It also works the other way around too where you incorporate external sensory information into your dream For instance if I wear a lucid dream mask to sleep I end up dreaming that I m wearing it My first cue to become lucid is Hang on why can I see through this mask I must be dreaming For the record I m not really an advocate of lucid dream masks as there are cheaper and easier ways to have lucid dreams But I did experiment with a lot of different tools and techniques to make this website including lucid dream trigger masks Anyway I hope that answers your question There is a complex relationship between the brain and body during sleep each speaking their own language and working off cues from the other Sometimes things get mixed up and the brain processes signals as if we re awake This is most common when lucid dreaming but nothing to be afraid of or worry about Return to Lucid Dreaming FAQ Share email facebook tumblr twitter reddit google pinterest Your Gateway to Lucid Dreams Some people dream to sleep Others sleep to dream Start now About the author Rebecca Turner is the creator of World of Lucid Dreaming where she offers valuable first hand insights Learn more about Rebecca Take her home study program Connect with her on Facebook Twitter and the lucid dream forum Latest Extraordinary fantasy art by Jeremiah Morelli Jeremiah Morelli is a whimsical fantasy artist and visual storyteller He places conceptual fairytale creatures in vivid dreamscapes to capture the imagination He s also a school teacher and amazingly finds the time and motivation to create this huge gallery of artwork Such light and dark fairytale paintings make beautiful places to visit in your lucid dreams Latest 12 awesome Inception style dreamscapes Inspired and named for the notion of Flatland artist and photographer Aydin Buyuktas has created a series of works where a space of surprises creates a space that creates surprises Based on photos of Istanbul Buyuktas explains We live in places that most of the times don t draw our attention places that transform our memories places that the artist gives another dimension where the perceptions that generally crosses our minds will be demolished and new ones will arise These works aim to leave the viewer alone with a surprising visuality ironic as well as a multidimensional romantic point of view Latest 10 essential oils to boost lucid dreaming One summer the 19th century lucid dream researcher Marquis d Hervey de Saint Deny took a bottle of an unfamiliar scent on his
