  • Scientists Trigger Lucid Dreams with Electrical Stimulation
0 6 for insight 1 3 for dissociation and 0 5 for dream control This reminds me of lucid dreaming masks like the REM Dreamer or the now discontinued NovaDreamer People mistake them as providing instant and flawless dream control Although the success rate of light emitting masks is typically far lower than tACS both technologies still appear to rely on the dreamer to actively grasp hold of their lucidity and sustain it through psychological techniques As you know realizing you re dreaming is only the beginning of a lucid dream Experience knowledge and conscious effort is required to heighten that lucidity further to control the dream through calm wilful expectation and maintain heightened levels of lucidity without slipping back into a regular dreamstate Final Thoughts Voss results are remarkable The lucid dreaming community is excited to see what other consciousness studies will arise through Gamma stimulation It s also an important discovery that Gamma waves are a causal factor in lucid dreaming However the mainstream media have gotten carried away with the immediate implications of this study There are no promises of this as a household technology let alone one that would live up to our wild expectations of delivering instant lucid dreams Even if it were available to consumers an inherent sense of mindfulness attained through self awareness training such as waking meditation remains essential to successful and prolonged lucid dreaming Share email facebook tumblr twitter reddit google pinterest Your Gateway to Lucid Dreams Some people dream to sleep Others sleep to dream Start now About the author Rebecca Turner is the creator of World of Lucid Dreaming where she offers valuable first hand insights Learn more about Rebecca Take her home study program Connect with her on Facebook Twitter and the lucid dream forum Latest Extraordinary fantasy art by Jeremiah Morelli Jeremiah Morelli is a whimsical fantasy artist and visual storyteller He places conceptual fairytale creatures in vivid dreamscapes to capture the imagination He s also a school teacher and amazingly finds the time and motivation to create this huge gallery of artwork Such light and dark fairytale paintings make beautiful places to visit in your lucid dreams Latest 12 awesome Inception style dreamscapes Inspired and named for the notion of Flatland artist and photographer Aydin Buyuktas has created a series of works where a space of surprises creates a space that creates surprises Based on photos of Istanbul Buyuktas explains We live in places that most of the times don t draw our attention places that transform our memories places that the artist gives another dimension where the perceptions that generally crosses our minds will be demolished and new ones will arise These works aim to leave the viewer alone with a surprising visuality ironic as well as a multidimensional romantic point of view Latest 10 essential oils to boost lucid dreaming One summer the 19th century lucid dream researcher Marquis d Hervey de Saint Deny took a bottle of an unfamiliar scent on his travels

  • Interstellar Inspired: Exploring The Fifth Dimension in Lucid Dreams
the fifth dimension being a wave of probabilities in which a fifth dimensional perspective could see all the possible timelines simultaneously there is a lot more to be imagined here And so I will push on in my future dreams Will you How to Visualize The Fifth Dimension Besides being blown away by the visuals in Interstellar here s another way you might incubate a lucid dream about the fifth dimension By now you can see I m no physicist Nor a pan dimensional being But I thought this would be a fun visualization experiment for lucid dreamers and it might inspire some cool lucid dreams Give this a go next time you re observing your hypnagogia meditating or setting up your next lucid dream intention Your goal is better comprehend the fifth dimension If you re feeling lost see my tutorial How to Visualize Length Visualize one dimension as a line between two points Width Visualize two dimensions as a flat plane Depth Visualize three dimensions as a cube So far so good But now it gets tricky because we move beyond spacial dimensions Time Visualize four dimensions as a cube that changes over time In this example it grows and changes color There is still only one cube in space Now it gets a lot trickier because we move beyond our awareness of reality altogether Beyond space and relativity We move into the fifth dimension a hypothetical dimension which physicists use to unify gravity with the electromagnetic force One theory is that the fifth dimension contains all the different possible outcomes of an event a multiverse So let s put that in our picture In space we could imagine it like this Reduce the four dimensional cubes to a plane except this plane now contains five dimensions If you were to zoom in and examine all the dimensions in that plane you d see different outcomes of the four dimensional cube Remember only one cube exists in our reality It contains three dimensions of space a fourth dimension of time and a fifth dimension of alternative outcomes Timelines Visualize all possible outcomes of the evolving cube moving through four dimensional space These show five dimensions Now you re visualizing the possible futures from a single beginning variation of the cube It s pretty neat that these are already called timelines making them easier to visualize in space Final Thoughts The hard problem for humble non mathematicians like us is that the fifth dimension is not a spacial one It s as abstract to visualize as time But as Interstellar has shown we can have a stab at feeling it out Even on a two dimensional movie screen So in your next lucid dream I challenge you to experience your dreamworld in five dimensions It s an experiment you can repeat many times with different results because it s our conceptual understanding that we re probing One beauty of lucid dreams is they can show us information using more

  • How to Improve Your Self Awareness
practice When you are fully relaxed lying down and with your eyes closed focus your awareness within and ask yourself what does it feel like to be me right now Just as we did with the first exercise start with very basic awareness such as the physical sensation of lying in bed Is the mattress soft or firm Are the sheets cold or warm Rough or smooth Does your body ache or are you completely comfortable Do you feel heavy or light Then move inwards Take some deep breaths Do you feel calm or stressed Why is that Can you remember a time when you were MORE calm or MORE stressed What did that calm stress feel like How would you describe the feeling if you were talking to an alien who had never experienced it before Are there different layers to this feeling Is it tangible Can you move it around build it up or sweep it away What might it look like if you could see it Direct your focus to whatever emotion or state of mind you feel is strongest and probe it in every way you can think Like manipulating putty in your hands try to manipulate any feeling happiness peace amusement boredom even pain to get a better understanding of how it affects your experience of reality To be self aware in the philosophical sense is to recognize your feelings as they occur to understand the impact they have and perhaps even put them to an effective use When dreaming this improvement of your self awareness will help you to recognize unusual or extreme feelings and thereby trigger lucidity For instance it s quite common to have your first lucid dream via a vivid nightmare which triggers lucidity The feeling of intense fear from being chased or attacked or whatever your nightmare fodder can provoke the realization I must be dreaming Self Awareness Exercise 4 Visualize a Dream Scene This is a lucid dream technique that invokes a stronger sense of self awareness If you spend every night visualizing a dream about riding on a giant water slide made of ice cream you ll actually dream about it sooner or later For accomplished lucid dreamers it happens quickly because it s second nature Children who lucid dream frequently use this method intuitively They ll go to sleep thinking about the amazing Candyland they just witnessed on TV and it ll suddenly become their next dream reality Not knowing any better they assume everyone does this The technique of daydreaming yourself to sleep is straight forward in its essence but there are tricks to enhance the process and make it more effective So what s the best way to visualize a dream scene so it plays out sooner First visualize in vivid detail engaging as many senses as possible Trick your brain into believing that the experience has actually happened To your brain the neurons fired during the experience of eating a gourmet burger are exactly

  • How To Control Your Dreams
Through Time This is a really easy way to learn how to control your dreams and time travel Fly up above the clouds so you can no longer see the ground below Visualize the time and place you want to arrive at then descend back through the cloud cover Instant time travel Or step into your own personal time machine Press all the buttons and tweak all the levers you need to convince yourself you are traveling through time then step outside again Both of these methods also work for changing the scenery and moving to a different point in space whether you want to travel to a new country a new planet or a new universe How to Find Dream Objects Dream research has found dozens of ways to find new objects in a dream The key is visualization Objects are unlikely to materialize in front of your eyes but you can turn around and find things that weren t there before Find dream objects in your pocket behind you under a rock in a drawer behind a tree in a box you can pretty much improvise as you go If you are more practical try going to a place where you would find that kind of object such as a restaurant to find food or a zoo to find monkeys You should find a way that works best for you How to Talk to Your unconscious Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives William Dement When you know how to lucid dream you have easy access to your unconscious mind You can communicate directly with it to gain deeper insights about yourself and how you perceive the world It is definitely something worth trying when you are awake in dreams Once you become lucid the simplest way to communicate with your unconscious mind is to personify it Create a dream character human or animal that you are happy to talk to and then ask them open and direct questions You may be surprised by some of the answers you get straight from the horses mouth Lucid Dream Research As you can see knowing how to control your dreams is a matter of talking the same language as your unconscious mind It is not always a literal translation Many impossible feats are perfectly acceptable in the dreamworld while other seemingly logical things may escape you It s your goal to decipher the rules and discover new ways to control your dreams Share email facebook tumblr twitter reddit google pinterest Your Gateway to Lucid Dreams Some people dream to sleep Others sleep to dream Start now About the author Rebecca Turner is the creator of World of Lucid Dreaming where she offers valuable first hand insights Learn more about Rebecca Take her home study program Connect with her on Facebook Twitter and the lucid dream forum Latest Extraordinary fantasy art by Jeremiah Morelli Jeremiah Morelli is a whimsical

  • The Mirror Experiment: Probing The Lucid Dream Mirror
dream mirror One theory is that your teeth reflect anxieties about your appearance and how others perceive you In particular they may reflect your sense of sexual attractiveness femininity among women and the consequences of getting old Dream research found that women in menopause frequently report dreams about teeth falling out However no dream analysis is ever definitive Teeth dreams are also found to commonly symbolize power self confidence diet faith lies and money Different cultures find different dream meanings and of course there is room for variation between individuals So while you can use a dream dictionary as a starting point you should fill in the context of your dream your current mind set and also note recurring dream themes and symbols The Mirror Portal When you ve finished examining your appearance in the dream mirror you can try one more experiment use the mirror as a portal to another dimension Sometimes as in the dream I had below the mirror leads exactly where you expect it to the wall behind I go to the changing room mirror and look at my face I look more or less normal So I decide to push my face through the mirror and it feels very strange Behind the mirror I get a strong sense of the chalky interior of the wall and the old copper water pipes although I do not physically see them I move my head back and forth through the solid mirror to see if anything else happens It doesn t but I am still delighted to be passing my head through physical objects as if they are water If you believe the mirror to be a gateway to another location and truly expect that to happen visualizing events on the other side it can be a very fun way to teleport your awareness Here s another example from my dream journal The door to my bedroom is closed so I tell myself there will be a field on the other side of it But when I open the door I just see the hallway as I annoyingly suspected I try again closing the door and say there will be a sunny field on the other side THIS time but it still doesn t work I m not lucid enough I leave the room rubbing my hands together checking they look normal I keep seeing 5 then 6 fingers on my hands and saying 10 10 20 to increase my lucidity Then I see a mirror in the hallway and decide this is my chance to teleport I feel more lucid now and this time I approach it slowly pushing my fingers through the surface of the mirror and it becomes liquidy I push further into the mirror and finally my eyes go through and I emerge into a big meadow with a train track running through the middle It is WAY better than I imagined The sky is romantic purple blue pink and orange and the fields
