at a peak I snapped This is MY dream I jumped out of the fireplace and roared at Hitler Suddenly I knew I was all powerful I glared at Hitler as he stood agape held up my left arm and suddenly there was a massive machine gun on my arm My right arm followed another massive machine gun I leveled them both directly at Hitler As I pulled the triggers he turned and ran I shot after him laughing That was the last nightmare I ve ever had Video Games as a Cure for Nightmares Since then any time a dream has become frightening the fear has triggered a lucid state It always follows the same pattern Something in the dream causes fear The fear makes me lucid I shout this is my dream My lucidity allows me to overcome the fear These days there are many realistic first person perspective video games that will allow you to deal with most kinds of fear For instance if your nightmares present you with a fear of falling from great heights I recommend the video games of Prototype or B A S E Jumping If you have nightmares about zombies Left 4 Dead is fantastic These first person video games teach us that the real power is in our own hands When we die in the game we just start the level again Not unlike a lucid dream And when we get hit in a game we feel no pain No matter what we do in the game we re still sitting in a comfortable couch in a warm house The reinforcement that nothing can actually hurt us can transfer into our dream world transforming our nightmares into lucid dreams About The Guest Author Pete Casale is a graphic designer and a lucid dreamer He is also the author of the website NLP Secrets about using the psychological technique of Neuro Linguistic Programming to upgrade your mind His website contains free advice on NLP from reading other people s body language to hypnotizing yourself and others to curing phobias increasing confidence and much more For more information on Jayne Gackenbach s research into the link between video games and lucid dreaming see The Science of Lucid Dreaming The Electronic Media Effect published by Lucid Dreaming Experience Share email facebook tumblr twitter reddit google pinterest Your Gateway to Lucid Dreams Some people dream to sleep Others sleep to dream Start now About the author Rebecca Turner is the creator of World of Lucid Dreaming where she offers valuable first hand insights Learn more about Rebecca Take her home study program Connect with her on Facebook Twitter and the lucid dream forum Latest Extraordinary fantasy art by Jeremiah Morelli Jeremiah Morelli is a whimsical fantasy artist and visual storyteller He places conceptual fairytale creatures in vivid dreamscapes to capture the imagination He s also a school teacher and amazingly finds the time and motivation to create this huge gallery of artwork Such light and

  • Anamnesis: The New Sci-Fi Web Series on Lucid Dreaming
spent a lot of time researching and practicing lucid dreaming Zach had a few lucid dreaming experiences one of which heavily featured Whoopi Goldberg as his dream guide For a time he even wrote the letter A on his palm every day as a reminder to ask himself am I awake Meanwhile both Tucker and Calleros experienced striking lucid dreams in the process of writing and directing Anamnesis Their first hand experiences influenced some of the sound design for a scene in which Sean has a Wake Induced Lucid Dream It s clear that all of this experiential research pays off Lucid dreamers in the audience will appreciate subtle clues to the unraveling plot such as this early scene set on a rugged beach location The scene involves a conversation between two characters Sean and Noah At first their interaction seems simplistic until you realize it s entirely likely that both characters are assuming the other isn t real The Original Anamnesis Be sure to check out the original inspiration for the show a short film made in 2012 of the same name In the short film version the main character Adam finds himself in a childhood memory and is guided by his girlfriend Hannah through other key moments in his life We find out at the end spoiler alert that Adam is in fact dying and everything we just saw was essentially his life flashing before his eyes Watch it here right now After seeing the original Anamnesis film the team was approached by Film Skillet to produce a web series based on the short At first we struggled to figure out how the short film could become a series says Calleros after all the main character dies at the end But then we had an idea what if Adam s girlfriend Hannah wasn t just a figment of his imagination What if that was really her sharing a lucid dream with her dying boyfriend That idea that Hannah was able to interact with another person in the dreamworld became the jumping off point for the series Join the Anamnesis Facebook page to be notified when the new Anamnesis is unleashed Share email facebook tumblr twitter reddit google pinterest Your Gateway to Lucid Dreams Some people dream to sleep Others sleep to dream Start now About the author Rebecca Turner is the creator of World of Lucid Dreaming where she offers valuable first hand insights Learn more about Rebecca Take her home study program Connect with her on Facebook Twitter and the lucid dream forum Latest Extraordinary fantasy art by Jeremiah Morelli Jeremiah Morelli is a whimsical fantasy artist and visual storyteller He places conceptual fairytale creatures in vivid dreamscapes to capture the imagination He s also a school teacher and amazingly finds the time and motivation to create this huge gallery of artwork Such light and dark fairytale paintings make beautiful places to visit in your lucid dreams Latest 12 awesome Inception style dreamscapes Inspired and named for

  • Lost and Found: The Article That Ignited My Passion for Lucid Dreaming
muscles Conversely it is possible to influence dreams from the outside If you touch a sleeping person s face they may dream of being touched or even punched If you played sounds of the sea they may dream about being at the seaside External cues can influence a dream in a direct way This shows that there is no absolute dividing line between dreams and the waking world the two are capable of interacting This could be why dreams allow us to access paranormal power If dreams interact with the real world the lucid dream state can allow you to experiment with paranormal activities One of the most pleasant ways to utilise this is for people to share dreams This can occur in ordinary dreams when two people dream of being in the same place experiencing exactly the same dream This usually happens when two people are emotionally close such as lovers This experience is quite common and it is perceived as a real form of telepathy a meaningful contact Some scientists dismiss this saying that dreamers have vaguely similar dreams and then convince themselves of the connection once awake by altering the details of their confused dream recall to fit the picture In some cases it has even been observed that lovers have talked to each other out loud while asleep this influencing each other s dreams This is not however paranormal When people do meet in dreams by alleged paranormal connection it can be experienced over long distances and both people independently remember word for word image for image every detail To them it is the most direct and workable form of psychic contact that exists As the lucid dream state is controllable it can be used to experiment with such forms of contact When you first learn to have lucid dreams the temptation is to fly the most common lucid dream experience or meet famous people or play with characters from your favourite movie but more advanced dreamwork is soon tempting To make this more effective people seek out a dream guide This may take the form of a friend an imaginary person you ve never met or even an animal If you ask a dream guide to reveal information to you they will do so Wise dreamers realise that this is their own inner mind answering back so it s wise not to trust everything a guide says as fact It s a Kind of Magic Ordinary dreams often appear to predict the future You dream of an aeroplane crash and then see it on the news exactly the way you dreamt it Statistics now show that every few years this is bound to happen to you just by chance In some cases however dreams are so complete and accurate that paranormal intervention cannot be ruled out You can try to use lucid dreams as a form of divination to see the future Again guides can be useful for aiding in this but it is also possible to just hold an idea about a time and place in mind and see what happens Any predictions will be based on the alleged psychic abilities of your inner mind however so be cautious More adventurous dreamers will use the lucid state as a form of magic In many types of magic visualization is seen as the key to causing change More adventurous dreamers will use the lucid state as a form of magic In many types of magic visualisation is seen as the key to causing change in the world If you visualise wealth it will come to you These visualisations should not be used as power other over people but to attract things that you desire Many people however find it is difficult to visualise clearly In the lucid dream state the imagination is at its best If you want to imagine a different future you can do so with total clarity making it the most powerful form of visualisation Perhaps the most exciting use of the lucid dream state is to induce an out of body experience OBE also known as astral projection In this state the mind appears to leave the physical body floating above it observing calmly OBEs are experienced by people by chance especially during accidents or moments of stress Studies show that between five and thirty five percent of the Western population have experienced this sense of being out of body at some time in their lives Although some people claim that OBEs are a form of lucid dream this seems unlikely In a lucid dream you know that the event is not real you are awake and you know that you are dreaming In an OBE you feel that your mind has left your body and that it is a real experience This is an entirely different type of perception It is possible however to use the altered reality of lucid dreams to step out of your body inducing an OBE The simplest way to achieve this is to direct your dream so that you are back in your own bedroom looking at your sleeping body You are then free to roam the real world at will passing through walls or rising above the trees In cases of OBE people often report seeing everything with a silvery hue whatever the real lighting conditions and there is much anecdotal evidence to show that it is possible to see real events which could not apparently be perceived by the dreamer It is possible to convince yourself that you are having an OBE when in fact it is just a clear dream so discretion is advised Make It Happen There are several methods for inducing lucid dreams Firstly you should improve your dream recall Each morning write down your dreams as soon as you awaken This is also a good way to check whether your dreams are predicting futures or reflecting important aspects of your life You will notice recurring themes which are personal

  • How To Think Creatively
m making for dinner my train of thought is lost I may be able to pick it up again but it wont be from exactly the same point That particular line of thought may be lost forever So while you re in the zone avoid distractions especially talking to other people or thinking about non related things There is an exception to this rule but it s more of a timed distraction It involves switching between your right and left brain to allow for a different type of creative input Sometimes when I have been at the computer for hours I literally run out of steam I lose the ability to concentrate and need a break But I don t want to leave the zone so I do something that allows my left hand brain to rest while my right brain stays focused on the task at hand I take a shower or clean up the kitchen or walk the dogs anything mundane and automatic that still allows me to think freely Doing such a mindless task allows my right hand brain to kick in with a whole host of new angles which my overbearing left hand brain was repressing The goal is to allow myself to jumping from idea to idea but without judging them or reigning them in just because they might seem too silly Some of the silliest ideas can evolve into something more realistic if only you give it the chance So find ways to shush your left brain when you need creative inspiration to strike Creative Thinking Tip 3 Be Deliberate Everyday life is not that conducive to creative thought We get swept up in boring jobs and meetings and television and some days there seems little need to think outside the box at all Fortunately many people discover creative thinking through their hobbies if not through their careers It s the reason why people play musical instruments or enjoy puzzle solving computer games and why most of us feel we have a novel in us Creativity is second nature to all of us but this instinct does require some nurturing or it is overtaken by another instinct altogether being lazy Humans spent tens of thousands of years living in caves and jungles and allowing creativity to be a largely accidental process In the last century the tenacious pursuit of science and technology has forced many people into deliberate creative thought and just look at the speed at which we progress now There are billions of people on this planet inspired by each other s creations and building upon their inventions to create a better world for ourselves and for future generations This pace of change is driven by two forces our culture which allows us to pass on information to the next generation and our technology which allows us to build better platforms to express our creativity Just look at how those ripples in the pond are amplified by the internet and social media

  • The Edge of The Universe
to make it flat Barely a third in fact So he turned to the concept of dark energy and proposed that the majority of the universe is made up of it Dark energy is invisible matter which gives the universe its structure We know it must be there simply because of all the unexplained effects it has on space However we are unable to study it directly because well it s pretty elusive stuff being invisible and all The Big Crunch Since the Big Bang the universe appears to have been expanding continuously Sir Edwin Hubble taught us this in the 1920s For a while scientists theorized that eventually we would run out of oomph and the pull of gravity would cause the universe to collapse in on itself the result being the Big Crunch That idea has now gone down the toilet Boyle s galaxy survey suggested that not only is there insufficient gravity to cause a Big Crunch but that 4 billion years ago around the time when planet Earth was in its embryonic stages of development the expansion of the universe actually started accelerating What caused our expansion to step up a gear Paul Davies author of How to Build a Time Machine says the explanation could lie in anti gravity This is dark energy locked in a never ending war with the force of gravity pushing the galaxies further apart So while the center of each galaxy is thought to contain a large black hole with immense gravitational forces pulling all the stars in around it the space between each galaxy is much different It is filled with dark energy pushing the universe apart And in trillions of years time Davies says the universe will be a very lonely place to be So What is at The Edge of The Universe Now that we know the universe is infinite and expanding at a rate we could never catch up with we will probably never know what s at the edge of the universe What we can say theoretically is that the Big Bang happened once and so it could happen again Not necessarily here in our universe but in other universes beyond our own each with their own space and time And where does that leave you Why the multiverse of course Getting to Grips with The Multiverse The fact that there could exist an infinite number of other universes means that ultimately every possible outcome of every possible beginning could be played out And so there could be an infinite number of you and me residing within them This leads us to the bizarre conclusion that you have died an infinite number of times before You have lived as an Emperor You have traveled to the moon You have eaten bull s testicles It s all there in Multiverse Theory And while some universes would be virtually identical to ours others would be unrecognizable containing space time and bizarre forms of exotic matter Your idea
